Department Information
The RE department deepens student understanding of the ever-changing world around them focusing on spiritual, social and moral issues.
Students will gain conceptual knowledge of various faiths represented in society, especially the beliefs and practices of the Christian Church.
Students will understand how religion shapes the lives of individuals through contemporary, philosophical and ethical issues and consider their own responses to these.
KS3 Overview
In Year 7, students study how the Church influences society, the impact of belief, Jesus, what it means to be a hero and life as a Hindu.
In Year 8, students study Judaism, the Bible’s relevance in today’s world, Sikhism, Islam and the affect of The Fall.
KS4 Overview
All students are required to undertake the GCSE Short Course which follows Christianity and Buddhism, along with the Themes of Religion, Peace and Conflict and Relationships and Family.
Those who opt for the full course GCSE will follow Christianity and Islam along with the four themes below.

Enrichment Opportunities
GCSE students will have the opportunity to visit places of worship to enhance their understanding of the course.
KS3 students will have speakers visit them to talk about contemporary issues facing their religious community.
