KS3 Overview
The Maths curriculum spirals upward, revisiting topics before taking understanding to new levels and applying this knowledge to solve ever more difficult problems.
Throughout Years 7, 8 and 9, students will find that mathematics moves away from an emphasis on numeracy and arithmetic to more abstract concepts such as algebra as well as problem solving in new contexts.
KS4 Overview
Teaching is organised into the following strands:
• Number
• Algebra
• Ratio, proportion and rates of change
• Geometry and measures
• Probability and statistics
The aim of the GCSE 9-1 Maths is to provide a strong foundation for further academic and vocational study and for employment, to give students the appropriate mathematical skills, knowledge and understanding to help them progress.
