Priory students from Year 11 and 13 have been toasting their excellent GCSE, A Level and BTEC results despite two disrupted years of schooling. Overcoming national lockdowns, isolations and periods of remote learning, students at The Priory received a huge number of outstanding results across a broad range of subjects.
Acting Head Teacher Jo Trimnell said: “Our students have shown hard work and resilience throughout the pandemic and we are so proud that they have succeeded despite so many obstacles. We had excellent engagement in our remote learning and the students stayed motivated, which has ultimately led to their success. We also need to acknowledge the hard work staff put in to ensure that every child succeeded”
In the sixth form, results show that students from The Priory received grades that matched or exceeded their targets in 88% of all exams. Particularly outstanding were Thomas Harrington who received A*, A, B along with an A in Core Maths, Aaron Walsh who received A*, A, B, and Becca Thomas who received A*, A and D/D (double distinction in BTEC). “Our students will go on to study a range of subjects at universities including Environmental Geography, Sport Psychology, Ecology and Environmental Science and Nursing.” added Head of Priory6, Phil Harrison.

In Year 11, students showed much trepidation when collecting their results following a unique year of in school assessments and Centre Assessed Grades, however many students were over the moon with their achievements. Particularly outstanding were Finlay Tarrant who received grade 9s in all subjects, Beth Flanders who received eight grade 9s and one grade 8 and Zak Williams who exceeded target grades in all of his subjects, in some cases by 4 grades. Head of Year 11 Matt Everall said: “Anybody who says these results are undeserved simply doesn’t understand the hard work and dedication that these students have had to put in. I am so proud of all our students and these results are down to their resilience and adaptability in the face of huge challenges.”
